The rushed race to embrace biofuel as one of the answers to global warming may, in fact, be a hindering solution because they contribute to global warming. Two new studies released on Thursday suggest that the use of biofuel increases greenhouse gas emissions because of the production involved and the burden it places on developing nations. The hindrance of biofuel is due to the rising cost of food production, increased deforestation, loss of grasslands and wetlands. This results in further carbon dioxide emissions, one of the major greenhouse gases, because with the removal of vast forests and vegetation, carbon is being released instead of being stored.
