President Arroyo said a Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) should push through.
Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Hermogenes Esperon Jr. said critics of a MOA-AD must "choose between war or peace" saying the agreement abides by the Constitution.
Esperon added that the MOA-AD is supported the the United States, Organization of the Islamic Conference, Japan and donor agencies like the World Bank.
He also said it is the last step before the forging of a comprehensive and final peace agreement with the MILF.
North Cotabato Vice Gov. Emmanuel PiƱol and several local officials have filed a pesampayanon before the Supreme Court to prevent the signing of a MOA-AD between the government and the MILF.
But the government and MILF panels are ready to sign a MOA-AD, which is seen as the key to a final peace settlement. - Paolo Romero
